EACGS 2022 -2027 Strategic Plan

The Eritrean American Community Greater Sacramento (EACGS) 2022-2027 Strategic Plan is to ensure the mission, vision, and goals of EACGS are achieved through measurable outcomes.  The strategic plan also serves as a framework for developing an annual operational plan by the Board of Directors.

Vision

Establish an Eritrean American Community center where the people of Eritrea origin and their families collaborate, exercise their culture and tradition, and enhance their solidarity and identity while integrating successfully within the United States of America multicultural system.

Mission

Strengthen the connection, collaboration, and support between Eritrean Americans, Eritreans, and their families in the Greater Sacramento area by creating an environment to get together and share enjoyable life experiences through executing relevant and authentic cultural and educational programs through well-organized community membership.

Goals

  1.  Bring most Eritrean Americans, Eritreans, and their families in the Greater Sacramento together with a membership goal of the count at least 150-250 families in the next two years.
  2. Develop a Fundraising program through membership and other sources to meet a minimum goal of $500,000.00 in the next five years.  With a minimum of $100,000 each year 
  3. Rent/Buy a Community Center within the next two years.
  4. Introduce relevant and authentic cultural and educational programs and events that fit all ages and gender over the next 5yrs.

Objectives/Tasks

  1. Reach out to every Eritrean American, Eritreans, and their families residing in the Greater Sacramento area and share EACGS’s vision and mission through social media platforms and word of mouth
  2. Collect members’ and potential new members’ information using the membership application, including month and year of birth, date of birth, family size, contact information, and mailing address to create a database of the community
  3. Identify various sources, including individuals and organizations, that provide funds or donate financial and material resources for the development and support of communities.
  4. Establish connections with professionals. For example, parenting skills, immigration, how to buy a house, investing, insurance, etc.
  5. Encourage experience and skill-based volunteer task assignments.
  6. Search for rental/sale opportunities to rent/own a community center. Decide the location and viability (cost and benefit) of the community center
  7. Implement the EACGS website (community portal) for members and programs management, promote activities, communicate with members, and the repository of member and non-member information.
  8. Set up a community calendar of programs to fit the majority
  9. Create different sub-committees: fundraising, sport, language school, searching for a community center, etc.
  10. Reach out and invite a meeting with other Eritrean collective entities in the Sacramento area
  11. Reach out to other Eritrean American communities within the United States for fundraising and sharing experiences.
